One of the most effective ways to describe food in menu design is to highlight the ingredients and origins of your dishes.

You have designed a wonderful chocolate cake and priced it a bit higher than your ordinary cakes. You may need to provide a valid reason and tell your customers what they will have in return.
Writing “luxury chocolate cake crafted with precious Trinitario beans from the Dominican Republic” instead of just “chocolate cake” can add value and credibility to your menu.

Researches show that customers are more likely to order dishes that feature specific, local and high-quality ingredients. Highlighting the origins of your ingredients helps you create a story and a connection with your customers, and showcase your expertise and authenticity.

It is also effective to use vivid adjectives such as “spicy”, “zesty” or “fresh” and emphasize the origin of your ingredients throughout the menu. For example, you could write ” Spaghetti with organic juicy Puglia tomatoes” instead of “spaghetti al pomodoro”.
